NEW BOOK AVAILABLE FROM TILLMAN CRANE

Tillman Crane, a large format (5x7 to 12x20) black and white Maine photographer known for his hand-coated platinum prints is running a “library special” on his first book, Tillman Crane/STRUCTURE. Published in 2001, STRUCTURE, is a monograph of 71 tritone black and white images, including photographs of Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania. Representing over twenty years of photographing turn-of-the-century civic architecture, 19th century industrial spaces and overlooked corners in the landscape, time seems suspended in these images. Yet the impression of those long past living and working in these spaces is strongly present. Printed in Italy with five pullout images, the hardcover book has a French-fold jacket and contains 128 pages.

With the publication of his third book (ODIN STONE) in December 2008 Tillman is making room in his studio by offering copies of Tillman Crane/STRUCTURE for FREE to all New England libraries wishing to add a copy to their library collection. Cost to each library is only $10.00 to cover shipping and handling. Less than 200 copies are available so order today if you wish to receive a copy of this beautiful book for your library.

For more information on this book or to learn about the workshops that Tillman teaches across the U.S. and U.K. visit his website at: www.tillmancrane.com/bks/books.html.

Send library contact and mailing information with a check, cash or money order to: Tillman Crane Photography, 22 Pearl Street Camden, ME 04843.

DEVELOPMENT TIMES POSTED FOR NEW TMAX FILM

We have recieved many requests regarding development times for Kodak's new TMAX 400 film. This film, designated by Kodak as TMY-2, has been tested using our STANDARD Film Developer and the times have been posted on our web based time chart. http://www.sprintsystems.com/film_chart.htm

Our testing has shown no significant difference in development time between the new and original formulation of Kodak's TMAX film when using STANDARD. As a result of these tests, the recommended development times for TMY (Original TMAX) and TMY-2 (New TMAX) will read identically.

IN-SIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT

Sprint Systems of Photography proudly supports several youth-based community darkrooms in the New England area. One of our recipients, the In-Sight Photography Project, is having a raffle to benefit their darkroom. Based in Brattleboro, VT, In-Sight teaches photography to teens regardless of the ability to pay and seeks youth in need of alternative positive learning situations, coupling with other local non-profits, teachers & counselors to achieve this effort.

Proceeds from the raffle fund student scholarships and each raffle ticket buyer is guaranteed a print. The eighty-plus photographs include prints from Fred Picker, Tom Young and Carl Chiarenza and range in value from $100 to $2,500. Tickets can be purchased by visiting In-Sight's website and the drawing will be held on Thursday, May 22, at the Hooker-Dunham Gallery during In-Sight’s student show.

Go to www.insight-photography.org to find out more information about the raffle and the In-Sight Photography Project.
